Genesis GV80 MPG: EPA Estimates by Engine and Trim
GV80 fuel economy comes down to the engine and whether it drives the rear or all four wheels. This guide uses the 2027 GV80 page on genesis.com for each trim's EPA estimates, the 2027 GV80 records on fueleconomy.gov, and the 2027 GV80 owner's manual on owners.genesis.com for fuel, tank size and the features that save fuel, all read October 29, 2026. What is the gas mileage of a Genesis GV80?
Genesis lists EPA estimates for the 2027 GV80 of up to 20 mpg city and 26 highway for the 2.5T RWD, 19/24 for the 2.5T AWD and 17/22 for the 3.5T AWD. Fueleconomy.gov rates them at 22, 21 and 19 mpg combined. GV80 engines
2.5T
A 2.5-liter turbocharged inline 4-cylinder with 300 hp and 311 lb-ft of torque, offered with rear-wheel or all-wheel drive. It carries the GV80's highest EPA ratings.
3.5T
A 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6 with 375 hp and 391 lb-ft of torque, with all-wheel drive. Genesis rates it at 17/22/19 mpg.
Seating
Genesis says most 2027 GV80 trims come standard with a third row for 7-passenger seating; the Prestige Black has two rows and seats five.

GV80 fuel type and tank size
The 2027 GV80 owner's manual says the vehicle is designed to perform optimally using unleaded fuel with an octane number ((R+M)/2) of 87 (Research Octane Number 91) or higher. For improved vehicle performance, it recommends premium unleaded fuel with an octane number of 91 (Research Octane Number 95) or higher, and says not to use methanol blended fuels or add fuel system cleaning agents other than those specified.
Genesis says its estimated horsepower is based on premium fuel ratings and that use of regular fuel will result in reduced horsepower. Fueleconomy.gov lists premium gasoline as the fuel for every 2027 GV80. The manual lists a fuel capacity of 21.1 US gallons (80 liters), and says not to top off after the nozzle automatically shuts off when refueling.
Fuel-saving features in the GV80
The 2027 GV80 owner's manual describes several features that help reduce fuel use:
- Idle Stop and Go (ISG) helps reduce fuel consumption by automatically shutting down the engine when the vehicle is at a standstill, such as at a red light, a stop sign or in a traffic jam. It only operates when its conditions are met, such as the vehicle being warmed up and the outside temperature not being too low or too high.
- ECO drive mode helps improve fuel economy. The manual notes acceleration response may be slightly reduced and air conditioner performance may be limited in ECO mode, and that fuel economy may decrease in SPORT mode.
- Coasting (if equipped) decouples the engine from the transmission under certain conditions while the gear stays in D, keeping the engine at idle to reduce fuel consumption. It is turned on under Setup > Vehicle > Drive Mode > Coasting.
- The cluster shows trip distance, driving time, average fuel economy and instant fuel economy for the current trip, since refueling and since the last reset.
Getting good mileage from your GV80
Beyond the drive mode, the manual points to a few habits and checks that affect fuel economy:
- Keep tires at the specified pressure. The manual says under-inflation may cause excessive wear, poor handling and reduced fuel economy.
- Give a new GV80 time. Fuel economy and engine performance may vary during break-in and stabilize after 4,000 miles (6,000 km).
- Use fuel that meets the manual's octane guidance (see above).
