Genesis Warranty Coverage, Explained
Every new Genesis comes with a set of factory warranties plus Roadside Assistance and Complimentary Scheduled Maintenance. This guide lays out each one: how long it lasts, what it covers, which parts have shorter limits, what is not covered and how Certified Pre-Owned coverage works. Terms come from Genesis Motor America's warranty page and its disclaimers, read October 26, 2026; your Warranty and owner's manual are the final word.
What does the Genesis warranty cover?
Genesis says its New Vehicle Limited Warranty covers repair or replacement of any component manufactured or originally installed by Genesis that is defective in material or factory workmanship, under normal use and maintenance, for 5 years or 60,000 miles. Selected engine and transmission components are covered for 10 years or 100,000 miles for the original owner, and EV high-voltage batteries for 10 years or 100,000 miles.
Genesis warranty coverage at a glance
Genesis says every new Genesis comes with these warranties; the EV battery coverage applies to electric models. Where a term lists both years and miles, check your Warranty manual for how the two limits apply.
| Coverage | Term | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| New Vehicle Limited Warranty | 5 years / 60,000 miles | Any component manufactured or originally installed by Genesis that is defective in material or factory workmanship, under normal use and maintenance. |
| Powertrain Limited Warranty | 10 years / 100,000 miles | Selected engine and transmission/transaxle components, for the original owner of a new Genesis. |
| EV Battery Warranty | 10 years / 100,000 miles | High-voltage batteries and EV-specific propulsion and power control components. |
| Anti-Perforation Warranty | 7 years / unlimited miles | Body sheet metal that rusts completely through because of defects in materials or workmanship. |
| Emissions Warranty | 5 years / 60,000 miles; select major parts 8 years / 80,000 miles | Emissions-related components and systems under the federal and California emissions warranties. |
| Roadside Assistance | 5 years / unlimited miles from first use | A service benefit, not a warranty: towing, jump starts, flat tire and lockout help, and emergency fuel delivery. |
From genesis.com/us/en/ownership/warranty and its disclaimers, read October 26, 2026. Genesis adds that California-certified vehicles may receive additional coverage on certain emissions-related components for 7 years or 70,000 miles.
Parts with shorter limits
Inside the 5-year/60,000-mile New Vehicle Limited Warranty, Genesis lists these components with their own time and mileage limits.
| Component | Coverage limit |
|---|---|
| Paint | 3 years / 36,000 miles |
| Battery | 3 years / 36,000 miles (no proration) |
| Air conditioner refrigerant charge | 1 year / unlimited miles |
| Adjustments | 1 year / 12,000 miles |
| Wear items: belts, brake pads and linings, clutch linings, filters, bulbs and fuses | 1 year / 12,000 miles |
| Wiper blades | 6 months / unlimited miles |
From the New Vehicle Limited Warranty disclaimer on genesis.com, read October 26, 2026. Genesis says to see the owner's manual for further details and limitations.
Powertrain and EV battery coverage
The 10-year/100,000-mile Powertrain Limited Warranty covers repair or replacement of selected engine and transmission/transaxle components originally manufactured or installed by Genesis that are defective in material or factory workmanship, under normal use and maintenance. Genesis says this coverage applies to the original owner only. Second and later owners have powertrain components coverage under the 5-year/60,000-mile New Vehicle Limited Warranty. Vehicles in commercial use, such as taxi, route delivery, delivery service or rental, are excluded.
For electric models, Genesis says the Electric Limited Battery Warranty covers defects in factory workmanship or materials of the lithium-ion battery for 10 years from the date of original retail delivery or date of first use, or 100,000 miles, whichever occurs first. Genesis says this battery coverage does not apply to lease and commercial vehicles or to vehicles serviced or registered outside the U.S. Our Genesis Electric page covers the electric lineup.
What the Genesis warranty does not cover
Genesis says that, apart from brakes and wiper blades, its warranties do not cover components that naturally wear over time, like tires and fluids. Genesis also lists these exclusions:
- Damage from misuse or accidents, such as repairs needed after a collision
- Off-road misuse or exposure to extreme conditions
- Aftermarket modifications, such as non-factory parts or alterations that affect vehicle systems or performance
For the anti-perforation warranty, Genesis says surface corrosion, corrosion caused by accidents, environmental conditions, improper maintenance, misuse or abuse, and previously repaired or refinished panels are not covered.
Complimentary maintenance and Roadside Assistance
Two ownership benefits come alongside the warranties. Neither is a warranty, but both matter when you plan service.
Complimentary Scheduled Maintenance
Genesis says original owners of new 2017 and newer model year Genesis vehicles get Genesis-approved oil and oil filter changes (except electric vehicles), a multi-point inspection and tire rotation at factory recommended intervals for 3 years or 36,000 miles from the date of first use, whichever comes first. Ownership limitations and exclusions apply.
Roadside Assistance
A limited, complimentary service for 5 years with unlimited miles from the date of first use, provided through AAA and its affiliated motor clubs. Genesis says it does not reimburse repair or other costs from accidents, abuse, racing, vandalism or items not covered by the New Vehicle Limited Warranty, and it excludes snow tire services, snow chains, impound fees and off-roading; the vehicle must be on a publicly maintained road.

Certified Pre-Owned Genesis coverage
Genesis says a Certified Pre-Owned Genesis, gas or electric, carries a Comprehensive Limited Warranty for up to 6 years or 75,000 miles and a Powertrain Limited Warranty for up to 10 years or 100,000 miles. Genesis counts both from the original in-service date and zero miles, and notes a $50 deductible per repair visit for the powertrain coverage.
