01Set the driver’s seat before judging the back seat
Adjust the driver’s seat while parked until you can comfortably see the instruments and reach the controls. Check entry and exit too: a position that feels right once seated still needs to work when you get in and out.
Leave the front seat there and have a regular passenger try the seat behind it. Ask them to check foot placement, knee space and getting out. This gives you a useful personal fit check without relying on the angle of a rear-seat photograph.
02Decide what deserves an upgrade
Treat upholstery, seat adjustment and lighting as three separate choices. Compare the feel of the available Nappa leather in person. If you want the available ergo-motion driver’s seat, confirm it is fitted and try its controls before deciding whether it matters to you.
For standard adjustable ambient lighting, try the settings while parked and choose the look you prefer. A lighting preference should not distract from a seating position or passenger space that does not suit your household.
03Try your normal load before choosing
Bring a work bag, jacket and the other items that normally travel with you. Put them where you would actually carry them, then check that everyone can enter, sit and reach the controls they need. Use the same routine for each SUV on your shortlist.
